PetAtlas is an independent project, and privacy is part of the point. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it - in plain language, without the legal fog.
Right now PetAtlas has not launched. This website is a waitlist page, so the only thing we really need from you is an email address.
Who we are
This website is operated by Julia Elena Calimandruc, based in Spain ("PetAtlas", "we", "us").
We are the data controller for the information described below.
If you have any question about this policy, or about your data, write to us at
petatlasco@gmail.com. A real person reads it.
What we collect
Your email address. When you join the waitlist, we ask for your email. That's it - we don't ask for your name, your pet's name, or anything else.
Donation information. If you choose to make a voluntary contribution, the payment is handled by our payment provider, [PAYMENT PROVIDER]. They process your card or account details directly. We never see or store your full payment details. We only receive confirmation that a contribution was made.
Basic usage data. Like most websites, this one collects simple, anonymous statistics through our hosting provider, Webflow - things like how many people visited a page. This is not used to identify you personally.
We do not collect any information about your pet on this website. The app does not exist yet.
Why we collect it, and our legal basis
To notify you when PetAtlas launches and to honour your founding member benefits
Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a))
To process your contribution and keep basic financial records
Contract and legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(b), (c))
To understand whether the page works and how many people are interested
Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f))
What we do with your email
We use it for one thing: to tell you when PetAtlas is ready, and to give you what we promised as a founding member.
No newsletters. No marketing blasts. No "just checking in" emails.
We will never sell your email, rent it, or share it with advertisers. That is not a marketing line - it's the whole reason this project exists.
Who else touches your data
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the site. They only process data on our instructions:
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
We may also disclose information if we are legally required to - for example, by a court order.
How long we keep it
We keep your email until PetAtlas launches and you've had your founding member benefits, or until you ask us to delete it - whichever comes first.
If the project doesn't go ahead, we delete the waitlist entirely and let you know.
Donation records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your rights
Because we're in the EU, you have real rights over your data, and we'll respect all of them:
Access - ask what we hold about you
Rectification - correct it if it's wrong
Erasure - ask us to delete it ("right to be forgotten")
Restriction - ask us to pause using it
Portability - get a copy in a usable format
Objection - object to processing based on legitimate interest
Withdraw consent - at any time, without giving a reason
To use any of these, just email
petatlasco@gmail.com. No forms, no hoops. We'll respond within one month.
If you're not happy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the
Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD) -
www.aepd.es - or to the supervisory authority in your own country.
Cookies
This website uses only what it needs to function, plus basic anonymous statistics from Webflow. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The page will still work.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. Access to the waitlist is limited to the people who actually need it.
That said, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we can't promise absolute security - nobody honestly can.
Children
This website isn't intended for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us their email, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If PetAtlas grows - especially once the app launches and actually handles your pet's records - this policy will need to be updated. When we make a meaningful change, we'll update the date at the top, and if it materially affects you, we'll tell you by email.
